Strategic Reading Program

A program for students of all levels who seek to boost reading abilities and comprehension skills

Although students are assigned plenty of literature analysis in school, they may need some specific help when it comes to truly understanding this material (especially without reliance on Sparknotes!) In the era of SnapChat and TikTok, books are unfortunately rarely compelling leisure options for teenagers.

Each Strategic Reading Program student takes an intensive reading personality test, immediately receives suggested curated readings (based on their interests) of various difficulties and lengths, and works with our Reading Specialists to build crucial reading comprehension skills. We start with short-form articles before moving into longer and more complex texts- the types you would see in publications like Business Insider, The Athletic, Vogue, Smithsonian, etc.

Throughout the program, students will develop the ability to comprehend and retain material while understanding literary techniques & devices used to strengthen the works.

• Students can enter the program at any reading level- we aspire to make reading something students enjoy by meeting them at their level and working from material hat excited them! Manageable and realistic asks and expectations are the building blocks we start from.

• The program is built around students’ needs and is customized accordingly, taking into account objectives and timeframes.

• We aim to boost skills that are crucial for high school classes, standardized tests such as the SAT/ACT, and daily communications.
